Lewiston Mill is a new brick mill on the Toadsmoor Brook just north of the London Road, which was built by Grist & Co., mattress, mill-puff and shoddy manufacturers, in 1856, and extended in 1864. The firm remained at the mill until 1939 or later. In 1969, the mill was taken over by a subsidiary of Bensons International Ltd., who carried out a plastic-coating process there.
