Sidney H Smith
1872-1947
Tennis player. Won all-comers singles at Wimbledon in 1900 and with F.L.Riseley won doubles championship in 1902 and 1906. Represented Britain in Davis Cup matches of 1902 and 1906. Later became a Director of Cheltenham Brewery.

Father Arthur Stanton
Anglican priest 
Son of Stroud cloth manufacturer. Unpaid curate at St Alban's church, Holborn, London 1862-1913. Was an Anglo-Catholic who preached greatly valued sermons. St Alban's church Stroud opened to commemorate him in 1916.
