Browsing the Digital Stroud Website
The Digital Stroud website is best viewed at 800 by 600 pixel resolution. We recommend using the latest version of your favourite browser. This site is optimised for Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher, and Netscape Navigator version 6.0 or higher.
Increasing the size of the text
We have tried to make the text size on our site easy to read, but if you find that you would prefer the font size to be larger, then you can easily control this by simple clicking the ENLARGE TEXT link which appears at the top right of every page.
Alternatively, move your cursor to the top of your browser and click the mouse button when you're on View. Move the cursor down to Text Size. Another window will open to the right. Move the cursor to Larger and click the mouse button.
If you're using Netscape...Instead of following the steps above, move your cursor to the top of your browser and click the mouse button when you're on View. Drag your cursor down to Increase Font Size and click the mouse button.
Navigation and Structure
The Coloured Menu bar along the top of each page show the main categories of information at the Digital Stroud website. The links on the left side provide access to additional information contained within the main categories.
Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs are the set of links at the top of each page that show you the path you can take back to the Digital Stroud home page. This helps you to understand how the site is organized so that you can find things more easily in the future.
For example, from the links at the top of this page you can see that this page, "Using this Site", is linked directly from the Digital Stroud home page.
Going back to a previous page
At the top left corner of your browser you will see a Back button. This button makes it very easy to retrace your steps through the pages you have viewed. Each time you click it, you will go back one page.
Searching the Digital Stroud site
Appearing at the top of every page is a search box and a Go button. By typing a word or words into this box you can quickly gather information from all the pages of the site.
An example: If you want to find information about Living in Stroud, simply type Live in Stroud into the search box and click the Go button. A list of matching information will be displayed. Clicking on any underlined item will take you to that page.
Downloadable Documents and Images
Most documents are either provided in jpeg or Adobe Acrobat PDF format. For PDF files we recommend obtaining the latest Acrobat Reader. This is available free and can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Many of these images and documents are large in size, and may take several minutes to completely download if you use a modem for Internet access.
Printing Pages
At base of every page you will find a Print Page link. Clicking this will open a pop up window with a printer friendly version of the page you are viewing displayed. To print click the print button at the top of this pop up window
