Bowbridge  |  Field House

Field House incorporates on the north-east, a 17th century range with a central oak staircase around a stairwell, some original windows, and two surviving gables with oval windows.

Early in the 19th century, a range was added on the south-west to provide a new entrance hall and living rooms.  At the same time the end walls of the older part of the building were rebuilt to match the new work.  The new work may have replaced an earlier wing, for in 1825, the house was said to have been recently taken down and rebuilt.  The house later became a Youth Hostel, but by 1971, it was the headquarters of the Gloucestershire wing of the Air Training Corps and later used by the Wessex Yeomanry.
