Lypiatt is home to some of the oldest settlements in Stroud parish.  Fennell's Farm and Kilminster Farm, date back to the 16th century, whilst Hill House is a 17th century building with a 19th century Tudor revival facelift.  A number of cottages, dating back more than four hundred years, have been demolished leaving no trace.
